PathFinder for labels & documents

The PathFinder Document Creator module allows you to use the PathFinder solution to solve a whole new range of requirements.

In addition to PathFinder’s existing communications and data transformation functionality for electronic documents, the Document Creator module now allows it to produce almost any possible design of document or label, including barcodes, graphics, line drawing and fonts.

The resulting documents are produced in either PostScript or PDF formats. Both outputs can then be routed in any of the existing ways provided by PathFinder. The PostScript output is designed for sending directly to printers or print servers, whereas PDFs are commonly routed as an email attachment – however, any option supplied by PathFinder can be configured by the user.

The module is fully integrated with the existing PathFinder server and tools. Source data to generate these documents is either collected by or passed to PathFinder in the same way as PathFinder works on any other data file. The same source file can be used to produce either document, electronic message or both. Routing for documents is set up using the PathFinder client in exactly the same way as routing for any other PathFinder file.

Document templates and maps are produced using the standard PathFinder mapper, and so there is no additional training required to allow existing PathFinder users to take advantage of this new functionality. This also means that the source data to be placed on the documents and templates can be passed to PathFinder in any Syntax and structure, just as is currently the case for EDI and data exchange messages.
